NRA to Host 32nd WCO–West and Central Africa Regional Conference in Freetown
The National Revenue Authority (NRA) of Sierra Leone is set to host the 32nd Conference of Directors General of Customs and the Committee of Experts of the World Customs Organization – West and Central Africa (WCO-WCA) Region from 4th to 8th May 2026 at the Freetown International Conference Centre in Aberdeen, Freetown.
The regional gathering is expected to bring together Directors General of Customs, senior customs officials, technical experts, development partners, and key stakeholders from across West and Central Africa. The conference will be held under the theme: “A customs service that protects society through its vigilance and commitment.”
Discussions will focus on strategic issues relating to customs administration, trade facilitation, border security, and regional cooperation.
According to the NRA, hosting the WCO-WCA regional conference is expected to yield significant benefits for Sierra Leone and the wider region. The event will enhance the country’s international profile, showcase ongoing customs and revenue reforms, and create opportunities for strengthened regional and global partnerships.
The conference is also anticipated to stimulate economic activity in sectors such as hospitality, transport, tourism, and services, while reaffirming Sierra Leone’s commitment to building a modern, transparent, and technology-driven customs system.
The NRA further noted that the conference presents a key strategic opportunity to advance its efforts in domestic revenue mobilization, trade facilitation, and national development.
