The Office of the First Lady, representing Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, distributed footwear to students at the Dr. Fatima Maada Bio College of Health Sciences and Allied Technology (DFMBC) on Monday, 4 May 2026.
The ceremony, held at the college’s campus along York Road in the Western Area Rural, targeted students training to become the next generation of medical and allied health professionals. The donation is part of efforts to improve the welfare and training environment for Sierra Leonean youth.
Staff from the Office of the First Lady conducted the distribution on behalf of Her Excellency, who also serves as President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD). The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to remove barriers to education and provide students with the necessary tools to succeed in their academic and clinical training.
“This support is a reflection of Her Excellency’s dedication to ensuring that those who commit themselves to the service of our nation’s health are supported every step of the way,” a representative from the Office of the First Lady stated during the event.
The atmosphere on campus was described as one of gratitude, as faculty and students gathered to receive the support.
As students continue their journey toward joining the national healthcare workforce, the contribution is seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen professional development in the health sector.
