It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development that four newly elected Paramount Chiefs will not be among those to be recognized by President Julius Madda Bio in Kambia Town, in the Northwest Region, because of legal matters made against them in the high courts of Sierra Leone.

The affected Paramount Chiefs were petitioned by their opponents after the Paramount Chieftaincy elections in those Chiefdoms. Because of this development, they will not be recognized by President Bio until their petition matters are completed in the High Court.

They include Musa Bendugu of Sambaia Chiefdom, Tonkolili district, Kandeh Bamba Kanmara 11 of Tambaka Yobange Chiefdom and Gibril A. Kanu of Romende Chiefdom in Karene district and Samuel Hindoveh Bergeh of Fakunya Chiefdom, Moyamba district.

Twelve other Paramount Chiefs who have no issue after the Chieftaincy elections will be recognized by the President at a symbolic ceremony in Kambia Town. The President will also handover the staff authority to be paid Paramount Chiefs.

They include two each from Koinadugu, Falaba, Tonkolili and Bo districts, one each from Karene, Kambia, Pujehun and Moyamba districts.

According to New Vision Newspaper, the President is also expected to engage traditional leaders and the people of the Northwest Region where he will explain his government achievements in the last four years.
