In 2018, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio launched the Free Quality Education which allows all children in Sierra Leone to have free and quality education in all governments and government-assisted primary and secondary schools across the country.

Over the years the minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education David Sengeh has been trying his best to make Free Quality School Education becomes a reality.

The Ministry and its partners have embarked on different educational projects which have brought more children to school since the launch of the Free Quality Education.

In that light, parents, and citizens have raised concerns over the huge amount of monies heads of schools are requesting from parents to get their children admitted into secondary school.

Just after the release of the National Primary School Examination results, the Ministry issued a public notice on how school materials should be sold to parents.

From different reports of parents, school authorities are not complying with the ministry’s mandate.
This has made parents call on the ministry to check these schools to see they comply.
