Parliament Summons Bank Governor of Sierra Leone Over State of the Economy
Ibrahim Hashim The parliament of Sierra Leone has summoned the Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone, Prof. Kallon and his team to the House of Parliament to respond to issues on the state of the economy.
The motion for the summons was moved by Hon Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella on October 28th, 2022 within the context of the increasing global food, fuel and financial crisis.
The Governor gave an extensive presentation on efforts to ensure macro-economic stability in the midst of external economic shocks and stagflation.
He responded to questions ranging from currency re-denomimation and supply of new notes, monetary policy, and the twin challenges of fiscal and current account deficits.
The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Abass Chernor Bundu.
