Some supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) in the diaspora have vouched for former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alimamy Petito Koroma to serve as running mate for Samura Kamara.
The group says, “Sierra Leone needs a uniting leader with considerable local and international experience in financial management.”
They believe that the former minister is better positioned with regard experience, academic qualifications, geopolitical balance and knowledge of the counry’s economy.
Koroma had been a member of the APC for decades, he has been able to garner support in the South-East when he was serving the government in the Ernest Bai Koroma administration.
His supporters cited his involvement in procuring rice from India helped averting a possible crisis between 2007 and 2008.
Koroma also served as the Secretary General of the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL) after the country’s 10-year civil war.
The former Minister was also among the 18 members that lost to Dr. Kamara in the race for the party’s flagbearer position in the just concluded Delegates Conference in Makeni.
