Plan International Sierra Leone joined the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Imagine Worldwide (IWW), SEND Sierra Leone, VSO, EducAid, RisingAcademy and other partners for a strategic review of the Pikin Tab Programme.
The meeting reflected on progress, successes and implementation challenges, while looking ahead to sustainability, government ownership and scale-up. With an ambition to reach approximately 4,000 schools by 2030, the programme represents an important step towards bringing technology-enabled learning closer to children, starting from the primary level.
MBSSE leadership reaffirmed that digital learning is central to the future of education, while Imagine Worldwide reiterated its commitment to supporting a pathway towards sustainable government ownership and national scale.
Representing Plan International Sierra Leone, the Head of Programmes and Quality Development, Peter Koroma, alongside the Project Manager, Yankuba Forbie, highlighted the value of digital learning for children and communities and its alignment with Plan’s strategic priorities.
The discussions also underscored the importance of stronger teacher capacity, community ownership, monitoring, technical support and coordination to ensure that the benefits of the PikinTab Project are sustained.
The meeting further agreed on pursuing an Official National Launch of the Pikin Tab Programme and strengthening collaboration with district education offices, School Quality Assurance Officers and community leadership structures.
