Eight protesters have been arrested together with their placards at Foamex Junction, Calabatown, for conducting an unlawful demonstration to disturb the public peace.
Their timely arrest came as a result of the joint security patrol operations conducted by both SLP and RSLAF personnel of Freetown-East.
Suspects who identified themselves as; John Bangura, Tejan Conteh, Ibrahim Samuel Foday, Gibrilla Sesay, Mohamed Kargbo, Junior Sahr Boima, Alusine Kamara, and Mohamed Junior Mansaray are now at the CID Headquarters for further investigation.
They need to face the full force of the law. These people are not good for themselves or the country SL🇸🇱
These protesters are members of the All people congress party, they have been spoon feed by the APC high party executive.for the disruption of peace in our only country sierra Leone, let the law of the state take effect.
So there is no freedom of speech in Sierra Leone
All the arrested protesters must face the full penalty of the law. They are all the supporters of the A.PC Party
Good Job
So where is this democracy the government is boasting of?
People like the police are Doom. No need to arrest our freedom fighters. Let them be please
The police are the most foolish useless force. You arrest a protester with nothing but placard and you think that makes sense. The statement already is flawed. It is a human right of every one to protest. The police just shot themselves this is so so wrong and an abuse to the rights of the citizens. Clearly they have nasty orders from above.
These miscreants and their sponsors should be treated like hooligans and should be accountable for their deeds by the law.
Good job 👍 dome by the security forces of Sierra Leone this APC party did note mean good for ma salone let the law take it course.
People have a democratic right to freedom of speech, peaceful assemblies to expresss their concerns etc. Sierra Leone does not belong to one person. The Bio Govt and ECLS have constantly undermined the will and rights of the people through use of electoral fraudulant activities, excessive and brutal police and military force, even when people demonstrate peacefully with the use of placards. Shame on Bio who claims to be the “father of democracy”. Lol. Continue looting the wealth of sierra Leone. Excessive spending, rigging attempts, and changing rules and laws to facilitate that. God will judge all of you
The SLP are not protecting the life’s and property of the people of sierra leone, they only focus on protecting the government of the day, which is wrong.
They are only there to protect lives and property in Sierra Leone
Freedom my dear goes with responsibility, you can’t just demonstrate without obtaining permission and taking responsibility if anything contrary happened.
Mind you, in exercising you democratic right shouldn’t disrupt the peace and tranquility of other citizens of the Land.
That’s what the law of any democratic nations State.
They need to face the consequences of the law so next time they should think before they do things
The police and military most do there job contrarily to the law. All those who are commenting against the police and military by aresting those protesters trust me they are the enemies of this nation. We all knows that it is the right for any citizens to protest but before any protest to perform you first have to take permission from where its necessary.
No need to keep them in custody because it’s clear to we the people, that the protesters have note with them .
They have something in their hands I mean the reasons for their protest is clear , they said (1) they need new color for the voter id card
(2) the other one said “this election is to redeem our nation.
(3)we need free and fear election.
So please Sierra Leone Police let the protesters go this one is not a harmful protest is a peaceful protest.
As long as 1991 constitution gives no mandate for taking permission to protest there is no need to take permission.
The only thing the constitution said is”peaceful demonstration”.
Mr kai kai what i want you know is the fact that, yeah sure every citizen’s should have freedom of expression, freedom of movement etc.But again those right can also be restricted if you fail to adhere or commit errant behaviour against another person or government of the day.Let us try to maintain peace instead of conflict.
Shalom to you all ….
We have lost all what we suppose use a legacy for our future LEADERS because of self interest. Please let’s give peace a chance for our CHILDREN to make own story that will be different from our. A well dynamic and better one.
To all of those hooligans that are in support of the arrested hoodlums, you are claiming and referencing human rights law, we are not against their protest, but can’t you people who are in support of the arrested renegades reflect on Tombo, magburuka, making Kambia and the 10th of August last year so they said that their protest was going to be peaceful and it ended up bloody and destructive. So what are you talking human rights? Have you people ever warned Adebayor to stop sending his tribal and political hate speeches and audio that is resulting in what is happening now?
Most of you supporting the protesters are political bigots, who are hell-bent on seeing the downfall of this country under the Bio Administration. But you will surely be ashamed of yourselves or you people will die before the election.
And to you the purported monjama, you should be ashamed of using the word Nasty, because by your name , you are the reservoir of what you are leashing out as abusive language on the powers that be.
We all are in a religious nation which gives us the strength to be confident that Allah will choose a good leader with a tremendous interest in the nation’s obstacles. but this would happen if we obey the commandment of Allah and keep on to our prayers with faith in God, we will conquer with smiling 😊 faces.
Maada Bio and Samura Kamara will never and can never change the condition of the country unless we change our bad behaviors towards Allah.
Brima Gbatekaka koroma
The police have to release theses guys immediately, just because of the placard of their rights during a protesting against the bad things are rampage in our beloved nation sierra Leone 🇸🇱. No that’s not good to hear from you police in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 its there right to protest to Gain what they need.
Every citizens has a right of speech and a right to demonstrate but you can’t demonstrate to distrub the peace of the nation or by challenging the law.lets every sierra leonean know that we are in a democratic country: meaning peace for all. let people take look during APC regime how many people including SLPP supporters protest demonstrate through out the country,no one,no place.so let’s people wait after election please
Just as you love the country. Do you read what is on the plaque cards of the protesters arrested? If you do can you tell me the crime they committed that is worth arrested for? Let’s try to practice a little democracy at least in this nation. How can people express their decertifacation?
Let them face the law please….no mercy!!!
Everyone has a right to express their democratic right of freedom of speech, and in case you don’t know it, no permission or clearance is required. The days of slavery are long gone! Today’s response is just Bio and his ‘Paopa’ team’s way to suppress the rights of the very citizens who pay their salaries. Holding a placard and chanting out your concerns without any weapons is not a threat or should not be perceived as disturbing the peace. This is done all the time in other countries worldwide. Unfortunately, illiteracy is a disease. Additionally, the protesters are from different political parties, nationalities etc, not just one party as political bigots are so quick to point out. Today’s arrests, beatings and teargas attacks on innocent citizens were unprovoked and uncalled for. This is just the way of frightening people from genuinely protesting so that the international community cannot hear their voices. The actions of the ECSL are shameful, unprofessional and disgraceful. Sierra Leone will never be a one party state and all leaders from all political parties needs to know this. Leaders do not stay in power forever and people should remember that the tables might turn one day. It is so sad to see people turning against their Sierra Leonean brothers and sisters. Tribalism should not be embedded in our society. Let us learn from Rwanda. We need to set a brighter example to our children. We oy have one Sierra Leone.
These two parties are the antagonist and rubbish of Sierra Leone… Once these idiots are fighting for supremacy this country will not go beyond this limitations.. God gave us a wonderful nation but the people are very ugly in their nature… Only God can protect us now.
UN ,ECOWAS, EU, Police, Roliders, Religious bodies, Civil society,ECSL all international Bodies you are not sincere to us including politicians to be specific present and past government have failed us woefully… I am tied with my country being on this mess every day arresting and killing… Nothing good is coming. I bleed everyday in my heart. Christ where are you Lord 😭😭😭😭😭
Indeed this behavior by the Bio’s government is really shameful, reckless and dangerous. The ECSL management body, the Sierra Leone Supreme Court, some of the army and police are blindly allowing the SLPP government to intimidate them. They should remember that the security of the country lies with them. Not saying anything about the reckless behavior of the Bio’s government , is scary. LET DON’T FORGET what happened in Sierra Leone, “Civil war” . Why do some us have a short memory. Maada May be a fool, thinking that the international stake holder will not intervene . Bio cannot refuse to share credible data with the opposition. Even without the international bodies, the other parties will not allow him to do such reckless act. WE DO NOT WANT ANOTHER senseless war.
Stop this things all of you we need to come together and stop this fighting and do better things for our sweet mama salon, only this two parties are violating in this country, what can we of fighting our self nothing, we to ask God for Marcy in Nation , let peace rain
Let us show love ❤️ we need peace and love in this country
