The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have banned the main opposition, All Peoples Congress (APC) from holding their planned meeting and press conference scheduled for 10th and 11th November, 2022 at their Party office in Freetown.

SLP made this stance in a letter addressed to Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Secretary and Head of Secretariat APC – ITGC.

The letter reads, “I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 9th November, 2022 bordering on the above subject and to state that it has received the attention of the Inspector General of Police.

I am further directed to inform you that, with the prevailing situation, there is great threat over your planned meeting and press conference at your Party office on 10th and 11th November, 2022. Your request is therefore NOT APPROVED and we will advice that you reach a common ground in the ITCG before consideration for clearance for such gathering is granted.

We hope you will understand our situation.”

Earlier today, APC invited their general membership and Party stakeholders to a press conference scheduled for Friday 11 November 2022 at their headquarters in Freetown. This is following the Press Conference by the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) on the status of the Party and the subsequent radio interviews of the Commission’s Chairman.
