Following an incident on May 5th, 2024, between the Mayor of Kenema City and Peace Ambassador Boss La, the Kenema Police Media Unit has provided an update on their investigation.

Inspector Brima James Musa, spokesperson for the police media unit, confirmed that police have opened an investigation into a case reported by the mayor against Boss La. He revealed that Boss La and several of his associates were at the police station on May 5th to assist with the investigation.

“Our primary concern is to assure the people of Kenema that they can go about their daily business,” Inspector Musa stated. “We want them to know that once a crime is reported to the police, it becomes our duty to investigate it thoroughly.”

Inspector Musa emphasized that the investigation will be conducted with credibility and within a reasonable timeframe, and the public will be kept informed of developments. He confirmed that Boss La and some of his team members were in police custody in connection with the allegations.

Regarding allegations of misconduct by police officers at the scene, Inspector Musa confirmed that the officers have been disarmed and are in custody. They will undergo an internal investigation to assess their professionalism during the incident. If found to be in breach of regulations, they will face disciplinary action as mandated by the Sierra Leone Police Force.

The investigation is focused on allegations of assault on the mayor, his driver, and other police officers at the Wanjama Checkpoint between Bo and Kenema.
