The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio in a well-attended Ahmadiyya Muslim Jaam’at ‘annual gathering’ in Freetown, heaped praises on the Ahmaddists for the good works, virtues and sound doctrines the Institution has done so far for Sierra Leone.

The annual conference usually brings Ahmadists Muslims under one canopy, to essentially discuss and proffer ways on the continuous survival of the Ahmadist Ideology, in the Sierra Leone, and the world at large. This year’s annual conference, according to the head of Mission, is described as the “58th Annual Conference of the Ahmadiyya Islamic Ideology”. The program which brought together dignitaries in the country from various sectors, was held on the 10th, 11th and 12th February, 2023, respectively.

His Excellence Juluis Maada Bio, making his statement further, said that he is pleased to use the August occasion to express his utmost thanks and appreciation to the Jama’at for the wonderful projects and programs the Ahmaddists have done for the country in the past years.

President Bio registered his appreciation to the mission for being a discipline faith, and recommended the Jama’at for the great work they have been doing for this country. He encouraged the mission for the continuation of the good work, and further emphasised the ideal situation of Sierra Leoneans to incorporate discipline into their ordinary lives.

He added that if the Jama’at had been the rulers of the universe, there would not have been any case of conflict across the world, and thus added that the world in over would not have suffered the effect of Russia- Ukraine war if the mission had been the leaders of the world.

Moreover, he updated the gathering that the mission is correctly supporting 202 Primary Schools, 52 Junior Schools and 32 Senior Secondary Schools across the country. He said that the mission is not only developmental by knowledge information but also wonderful in the health service.

He said that discipline and education are prerequisites for development, and noted that knowledge is only important if it is utilised well and fits for purpose. He said that since election is very close, every Sierra Leoneans must be peaceful and learn to resolve differences amicably. He said that violence should not be the only tool to resolve concerns or issues; however, peaceful procedures are the perfect means to resolution.

He therefore encouraged sierra Leoneans to be good and law-abiding citizens and that development would not come in any place where there is indisciplined citizenry, and thus added that law and order makes development comes true. “Law and order enhances discipline,” he said.

As a permanent missionary to Sierra Leone, Ahmadiyya missionaries arrived in Sierra Leone in 1937 to propagate Islamic belief in the country. It has been in existence in Sierra Leone for over 80 years of peace, affection and development.
