Following the Fuel scarcity in the country that has been disturbing different sectors in the country recently, the Sierra Leone Police-SLP in Kenema and Petroleum Regulatory Agency-PRA have on the 7th May 2024 conducted a dipping exercise in Kenema.

According to the SLP Media Unit, this is Part of the key recommendations reached in a meeting that was held at the Local Unit Commander’s office in Kenema, which urged them to form a committee comprising the SLP, ONS, Media, and the Petroleum Regulatory Agency.

This exercise indicated the committee’s first operation as they visited five fuel stations to ascertain the major causes for the scarcity of fuel.

It was revealed that, prior to the exercise, the Operations Officer Kenema Division, Inspector Mohamed Corneh reminded all about the task ahead and encouraged members to be steadfast in the execution of their responsibilities.

He said the SLP will basically provide a complementary role and would ensure that the entire exercise was done with the scene of partnership and collaboration.

During the exercise, the Regional Manager of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA), Mr. Kemson Brima Moriba, admonished fuel station Managers to cooperate and provide the much-needed atmosphere to his team as he stressed that such activities have never been carried out in their various filling stations in normal circumstances, thus, if situation emerges that warrants such operations, they should exhibit extreme compliance.

This was regarded as an effort to discourage potential hoarding by dealers or their employees and it was revealed that, no fuel content was found in the five visited stations in Kenema.
