President Bio Joins World Leaders for CHOGM 2026 Opening Ceremony
President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has attended the opening ceremony of the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2026) in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, bringing together leaders and representatives from across the Commonwealth to mark the commencement of the high-level meeting.
Following the ceremony, President Bio expressed his delight at attending the event and commended Antigua and Barbuda for successfully hosting the opening ceremony.

He described the occasion as memorable, noting that Antigua and Barbuda had made history as the smallest country ever to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The Sierra Leonean leader also congratulated Prime Minister Gaston Browne, his government and the people of Antigua and Barbuda for their efforts in organising the event.
The 28th CHOGM brings together Commonwealth leaders to engage on shared priorities and strengthen cooperation among member countries.
