President Julius Maada Bio has, on Sunday, 25th December, 2022, put smiles on the faces of patients at the Bonthe Sherbro Island Government Hospital by presenting Christmas gifts to all of them.

President Bio took his wife and children to the hospital in order to give hope to the patients.

In the children’s ward, one parent of a sick child, who admires First Lady Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio for her role in protecting women and girls from teenage pregnancy, early marriage, rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence, had named her daughter after the First Lady.

While presenting the gift to her, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Theresa Dick, revealed to the First Lady that the child was named after her. The First Lady in turn was moved and wasted no time to offer prayers for the speedy recovery of her namesake.

For a moment, the patients who had been on the hospital beds for days, were emotionally healed because their president and First Lady were with them.

Despite their predicaments, they could be loudly heard singing, clapping and shouting President Bio’s mantra “Talk and Do”, indicating that all promises made to them by the president to give a facelift to the Bonthe Sherbro Island have been fulfilled.

For them, Bonthe Sherbro Island would have been a death trap by now if not for the swift intervention of President Bio, who has been pulling every string together to transform the island.
