In the wake of the allegations by the unknown Stephen Sahr Mambu who described the recent SLPP convention in Bo as unconstitutional, non-transparent and undemocratic. He further claimed that the convention was to elect the Chairman and the Vice and not flagbearer.

Mambu also accused the SLPP Chairman of making the illegal nomination of President Bio.

However, the group operating under the auspices of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Legacy Awareness & Campaign, on 18th May 2022 in Freetown denied all the allegations while reeling out some of the achievements of the SLPP-led government led by President Julius Maada Bio.

Addressing journalists, the group’s National Coordinator, Robert Kondema Kargbo, said the group has commenced a national campaign to promote some of the initiatives of the SLPP-led government.

Robert Kargbo enlightened, “as committed members of the SLPP, we are convinced that since April 4, 2018, when the government of President Julius Madaa Bio was inaugurated, landmark initiatives have been and are being implemented. In comparative terms, President Bio’s government has recorded more achievements within three years than all the previous governments under the APC between 1973 to 1992 and between 2007 and 2017.”

He noted that their intention as a group is to present these achievements with facts and empirical evidences on a weekly basis and that Sierra Leoneans will be invited to engage the issues based on specific highlights of work being executed by the Bio administration.

We will also invite opposition parties, especially the APC, NGC et all, to engage the issues by presenting, especially what they comparatively were able to achieve when they were in power. This campaign has become necessary to prevent a situation whereby political entrepreneurs would take advantage of current challenges in the country to mislead Sierra Leoneans into believing that SLPP and President Bio’s government have failed,” he underscored.

He further stressed that though there are challenges, which both the Central Government and all political party leaders are working hard to resolve; “as a group, we will do all we can to support our leaders to succeed in resolving all our national challenges. With all the challenges in the country, SLPP is the only party that is working relentlessly to address them. Our leaders are not in denial and are responding to the challenges. Our party, the SLPP, is the only party in the country whose leadership has acknowledged its internal problems and have initiated processes of resolving them with positive outcomes.”

The group however commends the leadership of President Bio for undergoing a deep-rooted, rebuilding and re-positioning process affirming, “a new leadership will emerge at the end of this process. “Unlike other parties controlled by godfathers who are in denial of their internal challenges, the SLPP belongs to members who are ordinary Sierra Leoneans, and our leaders have no option but to ensure that the expectations of Sierra Leoneans are fully met.’’

Our country, Sierra Leone, like every other country in the world, is faced with difficult problems. These are not problems created by our party and its leadership. “If anything, through all the initiatives being implemented by the SLPP Government, our party under the leadership of President Bio has demonstrated unrivalled boldness and commitment to solve these longstanding issues and to rapidly move Sierra Leone forward.’’ Mr. Robert Kargbo underscored.

The group reiterated, “as loyal party men, we will be objective and supportive of our leaders with all the necessary recommendations, so as to ensure that our party is able to achieve the goal of changing Sierra Leone for the better in line with the slogan of the party. Changing Sierra Leone for the better requires assertive decisions, which are the focus of all our government’s initiative under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.’
“We will showcase these initiatives and achievements,” the group stressed.
