Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Electoral Commission For Sierra Leone (ECSL), has said that the result of the Presidential elections will be out in the next 48 hours.

Konneh made this known in an interview with AYV on Monday.

According to the Chief Electoral Commissioner who doubles as the national returning officer, progress is currently being made in terms of tallying results across regional centres across the country. He said the process is being monitored by pollical party observers, media, and international/national observers in a transparent manner.

Reacting to calls to project results across tallying centers, Konneh said the commission did not make provision for projecting figures. However, he mentioned that at various points of the process, the collated results are printed out and data given to observers.

Sierra Leoneans have been eagerly awaiting the results of the presidential election, which was held on June 24, 2023. The election featured a total of 13 candidates, including the incumbent president, Julius Maada Bio, who was seeking a second term in office.

The announcement of the election results is expected to be a significant milestone for the country, as it seeks to maintain its democratic stability and progress following years of political instability and civil war.
