Members of the Audit Committee of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) have concluded a one-day Audit Committee Meeting to discuss progress made, associated challenges, and ways of addressing same.
Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. George Lamin Vandi called the meeting to order. Mr. Musa Ansumana Soko was appointed to act in the capacity of Dr. Philip Kargbo, the substantive Audit Committee Chairperson who was unavoidably absent.
Making a succinct presentation during the meeting, the Director of Finance at SALWACO, Frank Lahia Kamara said that Audits are very necessary for the functionality of every institution and that SALWACO was not an exception. He said the process in itself is Statutory.
He informed that there have been sessions on staff capacity training in the areas of auditing and accounting, adding that such were strides taken to aid the cool running of all audit processes.
Committee Members discussed a range of other success stories, accompanying challenges, and possible ways of addressing them.
After several other meaningful deliberations, it was discussed that all units of SALWACO now have a responsibility of working towards realizing the vision and mission of the Company and that ethical and appreciable work ethics and human relations were also needed to see that the institution continues to make progress.
The Audit Committee Meeting was later adjourned and the meeting was brought to a close. It was however agreed that a general Board Meeting was to be held at the SALWACO Board Room, at 11 am on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022.
