The Presidential Press Secretary of Sierra Leone, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi has stated that the Supreme Court judgment on Proportional Representative (PR) System case is clearly shown the principle of open justice.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone dismissed the PR case which was filed by opposition lawyers, arguing that the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) does not have the legal mandate to declare a PR System for June parliamentary 2023 Election.

Reacting to the ruling on Twitter, the Press Secretary stated that the judgment by the Supreme Court has clearly shown the principal of open justice.

He also stated that President, Julius Maada Bio has been exonerated and his directive to ECSL was in the right direction.

His tweet reads: “Today, the Judgment delivered in the Supreme Court has crystallized the principle of open justice. @PresidentBio has been vindicated that his Directive to ECSL was in tandem with the provision of section 38A(1) of the 1991 Constitution as amended and therefore NOT ultra vires.”
