The National Security Coordinator of the Office of National Security (ONS) Abdulai Caulker has informed the public that his institution will invoke the Military Aid to Civilian Power (MAC-P) on election day.

“The security sector is ready and will ensure that the forthcoming general elections are conducted devoid of violence and intimidation,” Caulker said.

He added that the MAC-P will be robustly enforced during and after the multi-tier election.

The Security Coordinator said that the Administration of President Bio has witnessed “countless number of anti-state activities tantamount to undermining the peace and security of Sierra Leone” and possibly provoking security reactions.

He said that the security sector would strive to protect the peace and security of the state as enshrined in the constitution.

Caulker referenced the ill use of social media messages while referencing civil disobedience incidents in Tombo, Lunsar, Makeni together with the August 10.

“The Pademba Road Prison Break; August 10 violent protest etc; had all been evidently incited by social media troll; the likes of Adebayor and their clandestine political godfathers,” He stated.

He also equated the recent killing of the North-East Regional Coordinator of the OSD Mathew Gbanya in Makeni to “social media utterances”.

He said that they have decided to use an inclusive approach to ensuring that peace and stability ahead of the elections this June.
