The Sierra Leone government has evacuated all diplomatic staff from its embassy in Tehran, along with Sierra Leonean students residing in Iran, due to security concerns.
A total of 36 individuals were safely relocated to Armenia on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced the evacuation following a thorough assessment of the security situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
To maintain consular services, a temporary task force comprising embassy personnel has been stationed in Armenia. This team will handle administrative duties and monitor developments in Iran.

The development come as Israel and Iran continue to exchange strikes, after Israel launched an operation on Friday that it said was to destroy Tehran’s nuclear programme
The government assured the public of its commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad.
