Sierra Leone Records Over 2,300 Air Passengers During ECOWAS Summit
Kanja Sesay During the ECOWAS Summit between July 17 and 19, Sierra Leone’s aviation sector recorded a notable surge in activity with the airport handling a total of 2,367 commercial passengers within the three days.
According to figures released by the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), the period also saw 17 commercial flights alongside 15 private jet movements, reflecting a steady flow of both scheduled and private air travel operations.
The SLCAA described the operations as smooth, coordinated, and secure, highlighting the efficiency of systems in place to manage increased traffic without disruptions. The authority commended aviation personnel for their professionalism and commitment throughout the period.
The recorded activity underscores the sector’s growing capacity to accommodate rising demand while maintaining high standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency. Industry stakeholders were noted for their collaborative efforts in ensuring seamless handling of arrivals and departures.
