Sierra Leone’s Attorney General, Alpha Sesay Esq., spoke at a recent meeting hosted by International IDEA, supported by the European Union, to review the country’s progress in strengthening its democracy.

The meeting brought together government officials, development partners, and civil society groups to discuss how far the country has come and what challenges remain.

In his speech, Attorney General Sesay shared updates on the reforms suggested by the Tripartite Committee. He explained that improving the rule of law is a key part of building a stronger democracy in Sierra Leone.

“The rule of law is important for a fair and just society,” Sesay said, pointing out that it ensures all citizens have access to justice. He also thanked international partners for their help in supporting these reforms.

The meeting focused on the need for continued cooperation across different sectors to ensure Sierra Leone’s democracy meets the needs of its people. The Attorney General confirmed that the government remains committed to creating a more transparent and fair society for everyone.
