The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, 25 June 2026, held a post-2026 Hajj briefing at its Chancery Conference Hall in Riyadh.
During the briefing, Ambassador Mohammed Barrie thanked Almighty Allah for a successful Hajj pilgrimage and commended the Embassy staff for what he described as their “very best” efforts in ensuring the smooth participation of the Sierra Leone contingent.
He expressed satisfaction with the work of the staff, noting that despite some challenges, they successfully carried out their terms of reference in support of the Presidential Hajj Taskforce to ensure a successful pilgrimage for Sierra Leonean pilgrims both at home and in the diaspora.
Ambassador Barrie highlighted the professional media coverage coordinated by Information Attaché Abubakarr Bah, which he said kept Sierra Leoneans informed about the pilgrimage and the Embassy’s role throughout the exercise. He also praised the drivers, female staff, and liaison office for their contributions.
The Ambassador further acknowledged the leadership role of Deputy Ambassador Abdul Aziz Turay and the administrative support of Minister-Counsellor and Head of Chancery Alhaji Ahmed Tejan Kabba, describing their efforts as key to the smooth running of Hajj operations.
He urged staff to maintain the momentum and assured them of the Embassy leadership’s continued support.

As part of the event, Ambassador Barrie also unveiled the fifth edition of the Embassy’s newsletter titled Sierra Leone’s Diplomatic Mission Advances Ties with Saudi Arabia. Copies were presented to Sierra Leone’s Head of Delegation to the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Brigadier General Samuel Bob Farmar, and his delegation.
According to Ambassador Barrie, the newsletter reflects the Mission’s efforts to strengthen the historic ties between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia, while highlighting cooperation in peace, security, trade, investment, and the welfare of Sierra Leoneans living in the Kingdom.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Farmar commended Ambassador Barrie and the Embassy staff for their work during the Hajj pilgrimage and expressed appreciation for the partnership between the Embassy and Sierra Leone’s delegation to IMCTC. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and networking between both teams.
