Team Mustapha for SLAJ President have publicly presented and declared support for Mustapha M. K. Sesay as their presidential aspirant for Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) 2025 elections.
The Electoral Commission of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) announced on February 26th March, the timelines for conducting the 2025 SLAJ National and Regional Elections on June 7, 2025, in accordance with the Electoral Rules and Regulations.
Citing a history of over 20 years of involvement in journalism, the team referred to Sesay as the “SLAJ Encyclopedia” due to his extensive knowledge of the association and the industry.
Currently, the team asserted that Sesay is an outgoing Commissioner at the Independent Media Commission (IMC) and has represented SLAJ on its Board for six years. Admitting that his commitment to professionalism and diligence during this time garnered respect within the journalism community.
In their announcement, the team revealed that Sesay is well recognized for his leadership as a former National Secretary General, asserting that he demonstrated a strong commitment to media freedom and development.
The nomination process for Sesay’s candidacy, as stated by the team, is scheduled for March 31, 2023. Team Mustapha has urged SLAJ members to rally behind Sesay to enhance the association’s mission of promoting press freedom, professionalism, and the development of the media landscape in Sierra Leone.
The campaign team is in the process of finalizing a date for the formal announcement of Sesay’s candidacy and the launch of his campaign manifesto. Emphasizing core values such as solidarity, transparency, independence, accountability, and integrity, they are optimistic about redefining the future of SLAJ.
