As the International Women’s Day was celebrated on Tuesday 8 March, with the theme, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow, the President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla highlighted five things women in the country need to do to change the political narrative in their favour.

He stated that, “ five (5) THINGS women need to do to begin to change the political narrative in their favour:”

1. Join the political parties and secure your membership card.

2. Pay your membership dues regularly.

3. Make your presence felt by participating in every activity or program your party organises.

4. Aspire/challenge/contest for top positions in the party whenever there is a vacancy or elections. And do not only rally your colleague women for support, most importantly rally the men.

5. When you are elected or appointed to any position do not only prove your mettle but ensure you have a positive lasting legacy.
