The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) in a press release warned the public of using obscured, covered or not easily distinguishable vehicle identification number plates while plying the streets of the country.

In the release, they said that it has come to their notice that this menace has become widespread use of the public to engage in.

They said the caution is lieu of the persistence by vehicle owners which they say is in contravention of section 8 of the Road Traffic Act of 2007 and accompany a punishment by way of a fine or imprisonment or both.

Tha Authority said that they are therefore calling on drivers and vehicle owners to desist from such act which is not just a criminal offence but also a serious security breach.

In the end of the release they stated that the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) will take appropriate action against any defaulter(s).
