The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone will hear all cases related to the Constitutional Amendment on October 7, 2026, following President Julius Maada Bio’s decision to withhold assent to the Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2025.
President Bio referred the constitutional questions arising from the Bill’s passage to the Court for determination, seeking clarity on whether the proposed amendment complies with the Constitution before the legislative process proceeds.
In a press release, the Supreme Court notified the public that all matters filed in connection with the amendment would be heard on the scheduled date.
The Court also assured the public that the cases would be handled expeditiously to ensure their timely resolution in accordance with the laws of Sierra Leone.
