The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt has witnessed and participated in the signing of 7 memoranda of Understanding with the Kenya Government at a ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.

The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyetta and the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Brig. Rtd. Dr. Julius Maada Bio and a host of government ministers from the two countries were in attendance. The signing of the 7 memoranda of understanding aimed at fostering and strengthening the long standing bilateral relationship between the two countries.

They include: an MoU on Joint Commission for Cooperation, an MoU on Political and Diplomacy, Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, Trade and Investment, Tourism and Art, Wildlife and Tourism and an MoU on ICT and Youth Education.

In her presentation of the investment opportunities in the tourism sector, Dr. Pratt told the gathering that there are investment potentials in Sierra Leone especially in the area of tourism. She said there is a huge investment opportunities in beach tourism for which restaurants, hotels, eco-lodges, mariner, boat facilities, etc are needed.

She maintained that local business interests in beach areas have expanded and sober structures are being erected in these areas, which she said is contributing to the country’s economy. She shed light on the country’s beautiful islands and encouraged potential investors to consider those places when investing. She talked about opportunities in other areas of the sector, the many gains made in repositioning the sector and where the sector is going forward.
