The University of Makeni (Unimak) held its 12th convocation ceremony on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Makeni Pastoral Center.

Over 565 undergraduate students received their degrees, with male students making up a slight majority (283) compared to females (282).

While many graduates attended the ceremony, some received their degrees in absentia.

Nyanguoi Moses Harris from Agriculture and Food Sciences and Chuwetta Alditha Cream Wright from Political Science and International Relations were recognized as the Best Male Student and Best Female Student, respectively.

Marking a significant milestone, over 20 inmates were awarded certificates in Community Development. This program was reintroduced in May 2023 after a two-year hiatus, offering educational opportunities for incarcerated individuals.

The ceremony also marked the first official duty of the newly installed Chancellor, Bishop Bob John Hassan Koroma, who assumed his position on March 9, 2024.
