The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has this evening closed polls in all voting Centres in the bye-election in Kailahun and Port Loko districts, and commenced counting and tallying of results to be announced on Monday 28 March 2022.

ECSL stated that polling stations in all 69 stations in Constituency 005 Kailahun distract and 63 polling stations in Constituency 073 in Port Loko started at 7: a.m. and closed at 5:00 p.m.

They further stated that the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner, with the presence of security forces and election observers in all polling centers in both constituencies.

According to ECSL, sorting and counting of ballots are in progress as political parties’ agents, observers and ECSL officials look on, adding that tallying and announcement of provisional results is at district level.

 

The commission further noted that Chairman Mohamed Konneh, will declare certified results on Monday 28th March 2022 at 10:30 at the their headquarters in Freetown.
