Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security in Sierra Leone, was bestowed the prestigious title of Global Ambassador for Peace during a ceremony at Saint Xavier University’s Bawa Bangla Convention Center today.

The Vice Chancellor, Reverend Dr. John Felix Raj, officiated the announcement at the university’s commencement event, acknowledging Dr. Yumkella’s remarkable contributions to global peace and progress.

Dr. Yumkella, a distinguished development economist and expert in agricultural economics and energy transitions, seized the opportunity to explore potential collaborations with Indian academic institutions. He envisioned research partnerships, exchange programs, and skill enhancement projects that could mutually benefit both Indian education centers and the higher education system in Sierra Leone.

His engagements focused on crucial areas like sustainable growth, strengthening climate resilience, and promoting energy transitions – fields where he has demonstrated distinguished leadership and strategic expertise.

The ceremony highlighted Dr. Yumkella’s appointment as Chairman by the President, recognizing his extensive work in climate change and commending his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Sierra Leone.
