OPINION: Under President Bio, The Sierra Leone Police is Independent and Impartial
Having closely followed the LAC hullabaloo in the past few weeks which to a large extent has indicted the police from some quarters, left me with no option but to come out and set the records that the SLP under President Bio led New Direction is independent and impartial in it service delivery.
The SLP under the 1991 Constitution is mandated to protect lives and properties, enforce law and order and aid judicial proceedings with the provision of evidences in criminal and criminal related matters.
Over the years, the SLP had come under constant bashing and criticism from the public for various allegations ranging from biasness, remote control by politicians, corruption to application of excessive force against harmless civilians.
In order to put an end to these allegations and match the SLP with global and modern standard of policing, when he took over governance in 2018, as a God fearing leader with straight forwardness and enthusiasm in maintaining discipline, His Excellency President Bio has always make sure that the Police under his New Direction enjoy the free will to operate independently with no order from above
This political will couple with conducive environment of independence have led to the SLP quality service delivery devoid of favoritism and biasness.
