Alie Sumah Elected APC Port Loko District Chairman
Alie Sumah has been elected Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Port Loko District after securing 71 votes in the party’s October 2026 internal elections.
Sumah emerged victorious in a four-candidate contest, defeating his closest rival, Mohamed Gbondo, who polled 66 votes, leaving a margin of five votes between the two candidates.
Abdul Karim Kamara finished third with 45 votes, while Abdel Karim Dandas received 27 votes in the race for the district chairmanship.
The results place Sumah at the head of the APC’s Port Loko District leadership following a closely contested election among the four aspirants.
Meanwhile, rapper and politician Natasha Beckley lost her bid for the position of Deputy Chairperson in the district-level elections.
In a Facebook post following the contest, Beckley thanked the delegates who voted for her and said she intended to return to express her appreciation personally.
“All hope is not lost. Our journey continues,” she wrote, signalling her intention to remain engaged in politics despite the outcome.
The October internal elections form part of the APC’s process of selecting leaders to manage the party’s affairs at district level across the country.
