The ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has announced that their Presidential Candidate, Julius Maada Bio is leading the polls after its internal collation of results.

“Based on our internal tallying processes of the results that have trickled in so far, the SLPP is greatly anticipating a landslide victory for His Excellency the President, Retired Brigadier General Julius Maada Bio,” the party said in a statement issued out on Sunday morning.

They added that the presidential election will not go into run-off as expected by some analysts.

“Early indications from our polling agents who have submitted results in from their various locations point to the fact that there will be no run-off,” SLPP said.

The SLPP also appreciated other political parties and the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) for a “free, fair and transparent” elections.

They also complained of attacks suffered by some of their agents across the country while admonishing the local population to remain peaceful.

Reports have said that about 3,000 poll station results have been counted so far but the ECSL is yet to confirm this.

Meanwhile, the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has accused the ECSL of not being transparent after the latter failed to project results from their regional tally centres at their Bintumani Hub in Aberdeen.
