In his tour of Lower and Upper Banta Chiefdoms in the Moyamba District, thousands of stakeholders and supporters have assured President Julius Maada Bio of their determination to vote for him overwhelmingly to secure a first-round victory in the general elections, scheduled for June 24th, 2023.

The Moyamba residents said their decision to support President Bio’s re-election drive is based on the tangible developmental footprints of the New Direction Government in the district, including the provision of electricity, ongoing construction of roads, and the construction of new schools and hospitals which have helped to reduce the burden on parents. They noted the Free Quality Education, provided by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Government, which they said has accelerated school enrollment in the district.

Responding to the resounding endorsements, President Bio thanked the gathering for their confidence in his leadership and their resolve to support his second-term agenda. He noted that in the last five years, his government has undertaken inclusive and purposeful developments in every district in Sierra Leone to provide jobs for women and young people, reduce poverty and improve the lives of his citizens.

He also used the occasion to denounce all forms of violence, adding that elections should be about policies and not violence. He assured that his SLPP is committed to maintaining peace and stability of the state and, therefore, called on everyone to be peaceful to support development.
