A woman identified as Matron Hawa Dumbuya was reported to have died at the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) office after fracas with police on Sunday afternoon.

News agency, Reuters reported that a woman was found motionless “severely wounded and without a pulse” in room where the window was found shattered “the size of a fist”.

While it is unclear what really happened outside the party’s office, the leadership of the party accused security forces of attacking them.

The APC was holding a post-election conference at their Brookfields headquarters when they said police barricaded their office and began firing live rounds and teargas at them.

The police are yet to confirm or deny the allegations against them but onlookers confirm to Sierraloaded that there was armed security presence at the APC office on Sunday.

The party also clashed with security forces in the days leading to the Saturday polls with one also reported dead.

Sierra Leone held its multitier election on 24 June with the incumbent Julius Maada Bio seeking for a second term. He is contesting against the main opposition APC candidate, Samura Kamara.

Bio beat Kamara twice in 2018 narrowly.

Voters went to the polls after harsh economic hardship and unemployment hit the West African nation.
