Saidu Jabbie Explains Events Leading to APC Koinadugu District Chairmanship Election Boycott

The All People’s Congress (APC) candidate for Koinadugu District Chairman, Saidu Jabbie, has explained the events leading to the boycott of the party’s district chairmanship elections, citing alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

Jabbie made these remarks on Thursday, October 22, 2026, during an interview with Truth Media, where he recounted the events surrounding the disputed elections in Kwaradugu.

He said the controversy began during the first scheduled election in Constituency 044, when the INEC coordinator reportedly declined to conduct the polls because the delegate list did not contain photographs.

According to Jabbie, a subsequent election was cancelled over alleged over-voting, following discrepancies between the number of delegates present and the figures recorded. He said further attempts to conduct the election also ended in cancellation.

Jabbie alleged that a power-sharing arrangement was proposed between the competing factions but rejected by his team, which maintained that the APC constitution did not provide for such an arrangement and that delegates should be allowed to elect their preferred representatives.

He claimed that his faction had the support of 15 out of 16 delegates in both Constituencies 044 and 045, adding that the opposing faction later withdrew from the process.

The candidate said the election was subsequently relocated to Kwara Market, where his team raised concerns about the availability and publication of the delegate list. He argued that the relevant electoral directives required the list to be made available within a specified period before the election.

Jabbie also questioned the composition of the final delegate list, claiming that the expected 97 delegates increased to 100 following the inclusion of additional members. He further alleged that approximately two-thirds of the published list lacked photographs, despite an earlier election having reportedly been halted over the same issue.

He questioned why electoral requirements appeared to have been applied differently at various stages of the process, arguing that the alleged inconsistencies undermined confidence in the election.

Jabbie maintained that his team’s objections were driven by concerns over transparency, consistency and adherence to the party’s constitution and electoral directives.

The allegations have not been independently verified. Responses from the relevant electoral authorities and the opposing faction were not included in the interview account.
