The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has expressed deep sadness over the fire incident at the Sierra Leone’s State House, particularly concerning the safety of their Leader and President, His Excellency, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, as well as all individuals affected by the blaze.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to them all,” stated the SLPP in an official statement released on Monday, 14th April14, 2025.

The party commended the courageous efforts of firefighters and emergency personnel who worked diligently to contain the fire and safeguard lives and property. “Their bravery and professionalism in the face of such adversity are truly commendable,” according to the statement.

They also acknowledged the prompt response of the Vice President and Deputy Leader of the SLPP, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who acted swiftly by visiting the State House to support ongoing emergency response efforts, thus commending his actionable call for an “immediate and thorough investigation” into the cause of the fire.

The SLPP has voiced its support for the government and relevant authorities as they work to determine the fire’s cause while ensuring that appropriate measures are put in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The party emphasized the need for a “transparent and impartial investigation” to uncover the root causes of this tragic event.

The SLPP further urged all Sierra Leoneans to come together in solidarity. “Let us work collectively to restore the State House and continue building a stronger and more resilient nation,” they stated.
