Yvonne Aki Sawyerr, the former Mayor of Freetown and a prominent figure in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, took to social media to express her dissatisfaction with the voter registration data released by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) today.

According to Yvonne, the data released by ECSL does not match the voter register that the APC Party had requested.

Yvonne further explained that the Register of Voters, as outlined in Section 13 (I) of the Public Elections Act 2022, should provide a breakdown of registered voters at the center level, including their names and Voter Identification Numbers.

What ECSL has today released is not the voter register APC Party has requested. The Register of Voters as stated in PEA2022 s13 (I) is disaggregated at centre level with the names and Voter Identification Numbers of registered voters” she writes

Earlier today, the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Konneh, announced that the ECSL had uploaded the complete Sierra Leone Voter Registration Data, organized by polling stations, on their official website.

He made this announcement during his keynote address at the ECOWAS/ECSL event, which aimed to engage with Chief Executives and Senior Editors of Media houses on election reporting.

This development follows numerous appeals from the opposition, particularly the main opposition party APC, urging the ECSL to publicly disclose the voter registration data.
