Sierra Leone’s female referee, Aminata Fullah has reached a new milestone in her career, becoming one of Africa’s elite referees selected by CAF to officiate at the prestigious Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Scheduled from July 5 to July 26, 2025, WAFCON will feature Fullah among a select group of top female officials entrusted with overseeing key matches across the tournament .

Fullah, Sierra Leone’s most accomplished female referee, earned her FIFA badge in 2024 . Her career has been marked by trailblazing achievements including being the first female referee from the North East region with a FIFA badge and strong showings in domestic competitions, such as the Women’s Premier League and regional Super Ten events .

This year’s CAF selection underscores Fullah’s rapid rise and international recognition. WAFCON 2025, returning to Morocco with a full roster of elite African female referees, reflects CAF’s commitment to gender-diverse officiating teams.

With only 12 national teams competing, each match holds high stakes presenting a critical stage for Fullah to showcase her skills.

Her appointment has been hailed by the Sierra Leone Football Association as a moment of immense national pride.
