Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has been elected Vice President of the West Africa Football Union Zone A (WAFU A) at the regional body’s Elective General Assembly in Banjul, The Gambia.
Kamara’s election took place during the 15th WAFU A Congress, where representatives of member associations and football leaders from across the sub-region convened to elect a new leadership to oversee the affairs of the regional football body.
His elevation to the Vice Presidency gives Sierra Leone a prominent position within the leadership of WAFU A and reflects the confidence placed in Kamara’s leadership and contribution to football development in the sub-region.
Kamara attended the elective congress alongside SLFA General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh.
Sierra Leone was also represented by Angela Constance Gabbidon, Secretary of the SLFA Women’s League Board and a member of the WAFU A Disciplinary Committee.
As Vice President, Kamara will work alongside the newly elected WAFU A leadership and member associations to advance football development across the zone. His responsibilities are expected to include strengthening regional cooperation, supporting the organisation of competitions and contributing to efforts to address key administrative and developmental challenges affecting football in the sub-region.
Kamara’s election marks a major development in Sierra Leone’s participation in regional football administration and provides the country with an increased role in shaping the future direction of football within WAFU A.
