The Bo District Guard has won the one day Southern Province Inter District Military Parade Competition organized by the Fifth Infantry Brigade of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF). The competition was held at the Bo Mini Stadium in the Southern Region on Sunday 19 November 2021.

Guards from Bo, Bonthe, Moyamba and Pujehun Districts participated.

Declaring the Purpose of the event,  Brigadier General Abu Bakarr Conteh  of 5 Infantry Brigade Training and Doctrine Command in charge of the Southern Region said the purpose of organizing the Military Parade Competition was to showcase Southern Region RSLAF Soldiers skills with a view to strengthening the extant cordial Civil Military Relationship.

“This Parade Competition is part of the on-going efforts to continue to cement the exits cordial Civil Military Relationship. That is why we requested well meaning civilians to plan the event,” He further confirmed that he was informed that civilians love to watch Military Parade which was the source of organizing the competition.  He ended up by saying that Parade is central to Military Discipline”.

In his statement the Representative of the Commander Joint Force Republic of the RSLAF Brigadier General Sahid Tejan Kanu conveyed the optimism of the Commander Joint Force for a successful event and wishes of Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance to troops and their families in the Brigade. He reiterated the need to maintain a cordial Civil Military Relationship at all times as the motto of the RSLAF “Serving the Nation” dictates.

Rev Dr SBEB Johnson applauded 5 Infantry Brigade for maintaining cordial Civili Military Relationship throughput the Southern Region. He reminded all of the adage “If you walk alone, you walk fast but if you walk with people you go far” and therefore he indicated that 5 Infantry Brigade have always walk with the people of the South and therefore will help them to do well in all aspect of development.

The Guest of Honour in the Person of Resident Minister South Hon Mohamed E.K. Alli described the competition as timely, true to its meaning, encouraging and stressed the strong points of Civil Military Relationship was high the people in the Southern Region has enjoyed over the period.

The Minister added that the turn up by civilians to grace the parade competition manifest the cordial relationship.

He said there was need to always schedule this competition since it will be a conduit to bring both the military and the civilians together.

The Country Director of People’s Development Organization (PDO), Gassimu Mallah described the parade as one of the best parades that he has witnessed, and appealed to the organisers for it to be organized yearly.

First position went to Bo Guard, Second Pujehun, third Moyamba and fourth Bonthe. Best turn out went to Bonthe Guard, Best behaved Guard to Bo and Best Guard Commander went to Lieutenant S. Jalloh of Bo Guard.

This year’s inter district military parade competition was graced by Brigadier General Albert S Bockarie Commander 2 Infantry Brigade, Dr Baluwa Koroma Chairman Petroleum Agency, Ingr Paul Demby of SLRA, Madam Massah Massaquoi CEO Galliness Paradise, Col SS Massaquoi Commander Joint Logistics Unit other Government functionaries, Distinguish ladies and gentlemen, well wishers and families of service personnel amongst others.

The parade competition was climaxed by distribution of certificates to 31 personalities who have supported 5 Infantry Brigade in diverse ways for year 2021.
