BREAKING: Mali Eliminates Leone Stars B in CHAN Qualifiers
The Eagles of Mali have eliminated the Leone Stars Team B of Sierra Leone by 2-0 in the CHAN 2022 Qualifiers.
The home-based players were in Bamako fighting to overturn a 1:2 deficit in the first Leg against Mali in the Total Energies CHAN Qualifiers in Monrovia.
Mali got the lead in the first half of play through an indirect freekick in the 34th minute, leaving the Leone Stars B trailing behind a 4-1 aggregate. The second goal came in the second half of play as an own goal which resulted from a poor communication between Leone Stars central defender Paul M. Kargbo and the goalkeeper Ibrahim Sesay.
It was not the expected result for the Leone Stars B as they fought hard to tackle the Malians. Alie Nzonzi Conteh got an opportunity to take a penalty but he failed to convert it into a goal in the second half of play. However, the Malians were the better side at the 26 Man Stadium in Bamako.
