Sierra Leone is set to clash with Zambia in a double legged tie in the TotalEnergies AFCON U23 second round Qualifiers.

English-born Manchester City defender Jadel Katongo has been called up to the Zambia Under-23 national team for this month’s Morocco 2023 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone. His name came up in the coach provisional 36 man squad.

The towering 18-year old centre-back, born in England from a Zambian father and an English mother, turns out for the Cityzen’s Under-23 side.Zambia Coach Oswald Mutapa has also roped in Cosafa Under-20 Best Goalkeeper Jeban Tembo in the squad with Zambian Super League Napsa Stars forward Jimmy ‘Zobrigo’ Mukeya, Nkana’s Patrick Gondwe and Joshua Mutale of Power Dynamos making the cut.

Zambia face Sierra Leone this month in the first round of qualifiers for the Under-23 AFCON.The match is schedule to take place on the 22nd October, (Home) and 29th (Away) of October, 2022.

The said tournament is the qualifiers for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
