Cricket Sierra Leone won the toss and chose to bowl first against Ghana in the opening match of the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier at the RP Kigali Oval in Rwanda on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The encounter began at 7:00 a.m. local time and marked the start of Sierra Leone’s campaign in the regional qualifying tournament, which brings together emerging under-19 cricket teams from across Africa competing for progression toward the next stage of World Cup qualification.

After winning the toss, the Sierra Leone captain opted to field first in a decision aimed at taking advantage of the early morning conditions at the Kigali venue. Ghana were therefore sent in to bat as both sides sought a strong start to the competition.

The match is being played at the RP Kigali Oval, which is hosting fixtures in the Africa Division 2 Qualifier.
