Three teams from Northwest region have progressed through the Sierra Leone Football Association (FA) Cup’s Preliminary round.

The region will be represented by Bullom Stars FC from Port Loko, Chico Mayers FC from Kambia and Ashley FC from Karene.

According to the region’s Football Association, the three teams will join Premier League club Bai Bureh Warriors to represent the region in the round of 32.

“The Northwest Region is proud to announce its three District Qualifiers joining the round of 32,” the region’s FA said.

According to an approved format by the country’s FA each district could be represented in this year’s FA cup.

The tournament has resurfaced after a more than two years hiatus.

The competition was last won by Premier League club FC Johansen.

The competition has never been won by a club below the first tier since its inception in the mid 20th century but football analysts have not ruled out major upsets.
