Football fans across Sierra Leone are calling on the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to ensure an open and transparent process in the recruitment of a new head coach for the national team, Leone Stars.

The SLFA announced that by 2 May it had received 79 applications for the position. Of these, three came from local coaches and 76 from foreign candidates. Among the local applicants is Mohamed Kallon, who previously served as Leone Stars head coach before being dismissed on 3 April.

On social media, supporters urged the SLFA to conduct the recruitment openly. One commenter wrote that the recruitment process should be live-streamed for the public to witness, stating that Sierra Leoneans deserve to see and follow the process themselves.

The calls reflect ongoing public interest in the selection of the national team’s head coach ahead of upcoming international fixtures. Further details on the recruitment process have not been provided by the SLFA at this time.
