Honourable Mathew Sahr Nyuma, Leader of Government Business and an alumnus of Government Secondary School Kenema, has reaffirmed his commitment to local sport by providing financial support to Kenema Kamboi Eagles Football Club. The contribution was formally handed over through the club’s Team Manager, Emmanuel Elogima Vandi, following prior discussions with the club’s leadership.
The donation, described by club officials as timely and generous, is intended to strengthen the team’s preparations and promote sporting excellence across the region.
Alhaji Idriss Kamara, Executive Chairman of the Kenema Kamboi Eagles, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the club’s executive members, noting the positive impact such support has on both players and the wider community.
“We are deeply grateful to Hon. Nyuma for this important contribution,” Chairman Kamara said. “This support helps us prepare better, compete more effectively, and inspire young talent across Kenema.”
Kamara used the occasion to call on other stakeholders, supporters, and well-wishers to rally behind the club. He emphasized that collective backing is essential for sustained success and for nurturing the next generation of footballers from Kenema.
“Let us all come together to support Kamboi Eagles, as the success of the team reflects the pride and unity of Kenema,” Kamara urged.
The club’s leadership highlighted that private contributions and community engagement are critical to covering operational costs, training, travel, and youth development programs. They also signaled plans to intensify outreach to local businesses and alumni networks to secure further resources.
Kamboi Eagles officials say the funds will be allocated toward immediate team needs and preparations for upcoming fixtures. The club remains focused on building a competitive squad while expanding opportunities for young players in the region.
Hon. Nyuma’s support is being hailed as an example of how public figures and alumni can play a constructive role in strengthening local institutions and fostering community pride through sport.
