Grassfield Community were crowned champions of the 1xBet Salone Trophy following a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Brima Lane Community in the grand final.
Brima Lane Community led 1-0 at halftime after scoring in the first half of a tightly contested match.
Grassfield Community introduced captain Sallieu Tarawalie in the second half. Tarawalie, making his first appearance of the match, equalized in the 58th minute to level the score at 1-1.
The match remained tied through full time and was decided by a penalty shootout. Tarawalie converted the decisive penalty as Grassfield Community won the shootout 5-4 to secure the championship.
Tarawalie also served as assistant coach for Grassfield Community during the campaign, contributing to the team’s progress to the final.
1xBet invited eight communities to participate in the competition: Moiba Community, Brima Lane, Calaba Town, Rokel, Grassfield, Rokupr, Cline Town, and Thunder Hill.
The winners, Grassfield Community, received one hundred thousand leones. Runners-up Brima Lane Community received twenty thousand leones.
The victory marks a title win for Grassfield Community in the 1xBet Salone Trophy.
