Former Director of Sports and President of the Sierra Leone Weightlifting Association Ibrahim Bangura Jr. has been announced dead.
Bangura passed away on the 15th of March 2022.
In 2018, Bangura was appointed by the Executive Board of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) as member of the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission.
The Committee is the first level of the IWF disciplinary system for athletes, administrators and officiators.

As a member of the Commission, Bangura was part of the team that was tasked with investigating and hearing allegations regarding the conduct of athletes, officiators and administrators of weightlifting.
Bangura had wealth of experience in weightlifting and a rich legal background.
